The global opportunity for EXPAREL in the management of postoperative and acute pain warrants a significant partnership. We are, therefore, engaged in discussions to partner the product in the U.S., European Union and the rest of the world. With the exception of Japan, we own the product rights for human use in all markets. Pacira has secured Maruho as its strategic partner for EXPAREL in Japan.
In addition to the human health opportunity, the management of postoperative and acute pain in animal health settings represents a potentially large market for EXPAREL. Pacira will consider potential partnerships for developing and commercializing animal health applications.
