The initiation of the ERAS protocols have been utilized in many hospitals nationwide to address the opioid epidemic that is affecting mothers and newborns and the comfort of postpartum women during recovery. Obstetric nurses are well positioned to collaborate with medical and leadership teams to implement these types of protocols.
